Employer-Sponsored Visa

Employer-sponsored visas in Australia enable employers to sponsor proficient foreign workers, either on a temporary or permanent basis, to work within the country. This program aims to tackle skill deficiencies in the Australian job market and streamline the admission of competent professionals who can make significant economic contributions.

Australia provides a variety of employer-sponsored visa subclasses to facilitate skilled worker migration. Some important categories are:

1. Visa for Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (Subclass 482): Employers can sponsor qualified individuals for specific positions in Australia using this temporary visa. The visa is issued in two stages:

   • Short-Term stream: For occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
   • Medium-Term Stream: Professions on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) are covered.

2. Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186): The ENS visa, which is intended for permanent residency, permits firms to sponsor talented employees for long-term work in Australia. The visa is available in three varieties:

   • Temporary Residence Transition Stream: Designed for temporary visa holders with at least three years of employer tenure.
   •  Direct Entry: For skilled employees who have never had a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa.
   • c. Agreement stream: Intended for personnel covered by a labor agreement.

3. Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Visa (Subclass 187): This visa was designed to address skill shortages in regional Australia by providing a permanent residency pathway for talented individuals in these areas. There are two types of visas:

   • Temporary Residence Transition stream
   • Direct Entry Stream

4. Regional (Provisional) Skilled Employer-Sponsored Visa (Subclass 494): This visa permits firms in specific regional areas to sponsor skilled employees. It provides a pathway to permanent residency under the Subclass 191 visa (Permanent Residence - Skilled Regional).

5. Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa: Although not officially employer-sponsored, this visa category allows qualified individuals in specified Australian conditions to work for short periods of time.
